Meet Mark Smith

Mark is a strong conservative and successful small businessman who was born and raised in the Lowcountry. Faith, Family, and Freedom define his approach to life, business, and legislating. 

 

Mark and his wife of 31 years, Elayne, are parents to three young adult sons Parker, Avery, and Domenic. The family shares Hugo a very rambunctious German Shorthaird Pointer. 

The Smiths attend St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church on Daniel Island.

Mark is the Owner and President of McAlister-Smith Funeral Homes, Avinger Funeral Home, Palmetto Cremation Society, and Columbia Pet Cremation Center, which have eight locations in Charleston, Berkeley, Orangeburg and Lexington Counties and manages a staff of over 30 employees.

 

Public Service for Mark Extends beyond the State House. He was the former Chairman of both the S.C. Advisory Council on Aging and the Lowcountry Food Bank. He is also the Past President of the Rotary Club of Charleston.

In the Lowcountry, Mark currently serves at the President of Daniel Island Republican Club and past-president of the East Cooper Republican Club. He is also a member of the Daniel Island Rotary Club.
